FAQ

Common questions Kerala students ask.

How long does A1 to B1 actually take?+
Most students reach B1 in 6 to 9 months of consistent daily practice. Faster (4-5 months) is possible with full-time immersion. Slower (12-15 months) is common for students juggling B-Tech or jobs. The variable is hours per week, not natural language ability.
Do I really need German for an English-taught Masters?+
Technically no, you can finish your degree without German. Practically, you'll struggle. Job Seeker Visa is harder without German. Banks, housing, government offices all run primarily in German. We strongly recommend B1 even for English-taught programs.
What is the Goethe-Zertifikat?+
The official German language certificate from the Goethe-Institut, the government-recognised body for German language assessment worldwide. Accepted by German universities and the German embassy for visa purposes. We prep students for Goethe A1 through C1 exams at our centres.
Is TestDaF different from Goethe?+
Yes. TestDaF is specifically for German university admissions (especially competitive ones). Goethe is more general-purpose. Most students need only Goethe; some Masters programs (especially TU9 universities) ask for TestDaF B2 or C1. We prep for both.
Can I learn online or do I need to be at the Trivandrum or Kochi centre?+
Online works well for A1-A2. B1 and above we strongly recommend in-person classes because pronunciation feedback and grammar drilling are harder over Zoom. Hybrid (weekend in-person + weekday online) is the most popular format.
Is the ₹30,000/month stipend real?+
Yes, for students who have signed our engagement agreement to go to Germany via Cokonet Overseas. The stipend offsets your living costs during the 6-9 month German learning phase. Paid monthly during active enrollment. Stops if you withdraw from the placement.
