IELTS or PTE preparation

6 to 10 weeks

Most UK Masters need IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each band. We run weekend-intensive batches at Cokonet Academy, and first-attempt clearance is the norm for our cohort.

Application package

3 to 6 weeks

SOP drafting and editing, LOR coordination, financial documents and transcript attestation. Most universities take direct applications; some need UCAS. We handle both.

Offer letters and decision

4 to 12 weeks

Universities respond on a rolling basis and most students get two to four offers. We compare them on financials, ranking, city and post-study placement strength.

CAS letter, visa filing and biometrics

4 to 8 weeks

CAS issued by the university, then the Student Route application, 28-day financial proof, TB test and biometrics at VFS. Visa decisions typically land within three weeks.

Pre-departure and landing

2 to 4 weeks

Forex, insurance, SIM, UK bank paperwork, accommodation and airport pickup. Most students fly out 7 to 10 days before classes begin.

Has the UK tightened student visa rules recently? +

Yes. Since January 2024, most non-research postgraduate students cannot bring dependants (spouse, children) during their studies. After moving to the Graduate Route or Skilled Worker visa, dependants can join. The Graduate Route itself remains intact through 2026.

What IELTS score do I need? +

Most Masters require 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0. Some courses (especially journalism, law, healthcare) require 7.0+. Some Pre-Masters and language pathway programs accept 5.5 and let you upgrade in the UK. Beyond the university's own score, the UK student visa carries a UKVI Secure English Language requirement: CEFR level B2 if you are studying at UK bachelor's level or above (this covers Masters), and B1 if you are studying below bachelor's level. The same standard applies both for entry clearance and for permission to stay. An IELTS 6.5 overall comfortably meets B2. We map the right score for your target universities.

Is the UK affordable compared to other destinations? +

Not the cheapest at entry. A UK Masters runs ₹35 to 50 lakh total. But over a 5-year horizon, the Graduate Route lets you earn back the investment faster than most destinations because you can start work the day after graduation, no sponsorship friction. Most students clear their education loan in 3 to 5 years of UK earnings.

What if I do not find a job in the 18-month Graduate Route window? +

You can return to India having earned a UK Masters and 18 months of international experience, which is itself valuable on Indian salaries. But the more realistic answer: students who use the 18-month window actively (network, build a portfolio, apply broadly) find roles. Tech, healthcare, accounting, and engineering have the highest sponsor conversion rates.

Can my spouse work in the UK while I study? +

Generally no for the duration of a 1-year Masters (under the 2024 rules). Once you switch to Skilled Worker or PhD, spouse can join on a dependant visa with full work rights. Research-track students retain dependant rights from year 1.

How are UK universities different from American ones for Kerala students? +

Three big differences: UK Masters are typically 1 year (vs 2 in the US), tuition is lower at most non-elite UK universities, and post-study work visa is automatic in the UK. The US still wins on tech-specific opportunities at FAANG-tier employers, but for healthcare, business, and engineering Masters, the UK has a clearer ROI.

Do I need to take GMAT or GRE? +

Most UK Masters do not require GMAT or GRE. Even top business schools like London Business School and Oxford Saïd typically accept strong academic records and work experience without GMAT. Exception: some specific quantitative finance, computer science PhDs, and a few US-style MBA programmes.
